My Training Plan {What I Do At The Gym}

When I first started going to the gym I didn’t really know what I was doing. I focused mainly on cardio and ab exercises. Although in the beginning I saw a big progress with my running and strength, I didn’t know what to do from there. I knew my plan was getting boring, very repetitive and not challenging for my body as I used to do the same couple of the same exercises every time, therefore my progress started to decline and I shortly stopped seeing results. It was time to make my workouts a bit more structured so could make the most of my workouts. So I went to the internet for answers but all I could find was people telling me that I needed to divide my days into body parts: biceps and back on day, triceps and chest the other day, glutes another, etc. Everything I found was bodybuilding training plans where the main goal was to isolate one or two muscles (or muscle groups) and fatigue them as much as possible. I didn’t like this approach …

3 Simple Ways You Can Be Healthier This Spring

The warming sun touching my skin, the birds singing out loud and the long days are my favourite things about Spring. Spring brings change, a fresh start. It is a great time to pick up some new healthy habits to make you feel energized and vibrant for the months ahead. Today I am sharing with you 3 simple things you can do to become a bit healthier this Spring without going on a crazy detox or workout regime. These will hopefully turn into habits you can enjoy and develop further. 1. Walk or Cycle As Much As You Can! Take advantage of the good weather to walk or cycle to the shops, work or simply for leisure. It is great for the mind to go outside and get fresh air. And of course, it is an amazing way to get the body moving, and your skin will love the warm sunshine. Back at home (Kent) I loved going on walks by the beach, I would walk for about 2 hours whilst listening to my favourite podcasts. It was so …

3 Reasons Why Yoga Helps Reduce Stress

Hello gorgeous people, I am finally back. I won’t bore you with life updates and reasons why I didn’t post for more than two weeks, that is for a future post. I hope you are all well and happy, thank you for being here. Now let’s get on with the post. It is not a secret that exercise influences our mood and state of being. By moving our body we release endorphins such as dopamine which is related to pleasure. Basically the more often we exercise the happier and better we feel. Yoga is particularly well known for promoting feelings of calm, happiness, well-being and positivity therefore reducing the feeling of stress and anxiety. Today we are exploring why that is. 1. Connecting to your breath Yoga is an exercise that involves observing your breath and moving your body according to your breath. This awareness is very grounding, it helps us feel supported by the earth and calm, but at the same time it can also be very energizing and up-lifting. Some practices can also include breathing …

Why I Don’t Weigh Myself

In the last couple of years I weighted myself constantly. Mainly due to my involvement in sport, taking part in sport and studying sport. I used to weigh myself about twice a week, and used to find it quite interesting, I was able to see my weight gain and loss depending on the type of training I was doing and season time. However, now that I haven’t weighed myself for quite a long time I managed to step back from what I was doing and get a new perspective. Before I used to think that weighting myself had no impact on me mentally. But I realise now that is not the case. Here is why I don’t want to weigh myself: Reason 1 That number on the scale is not reliable. That number constantly changes due to small things such as time of the day, if you have been to the toilet that day, hydration levels, whether you ate before or not, also some foods might make you more bloated than others. The list of factors that can change that little …

How To Get Back To The Gym

I didn’t go to the gym for about 2 months! For me that is a really long time. Now that I am at Uni and have a gym 5 minutes away from my house, I have no excuses. But not exercising for such a long time made me both lazy and scared as I now doubt my abilities and feel really unfit. Here are a few things that helped me get back in the gym: ➭ Chose an outfit – planning what to wear makes me really excited to go to the gym. There is something about choosing the pair of trainers and leggings that I really like. Plus when I have to get ready to go it takes me a lot less time. ➭ Make a plan – decide what you want to work on and write down exercises that will help you achieve that. You might have to change your plans slightly when you get to the gym if a machine is not available or something, but having a good idea of what you want to …

Benefits Of Yoga

Yoga has become a passion of mine. This is quite a big statement – at least for me – but I literally find myself thinking about yoga every single day. I injured my right wrist so I couldn’t really do much yoga for a couple of weeks and even when my wrist got better, every time I did yoga, my wrist would start hurting again…it has been a struggle. Today was the first time I’ve done ‘pain free’ yoga for a while and it felt amazing! It was so good to focus on my breathing without having an awkward pain on my wrist. Doing yoga again made me think of the benefits yoga brings to my life. I was so pleased and inspired I decided to share them with you. ❉ Taking time for myself – I consider myself a busy person. Doing yoga allows me to take some time off my day to take care of myself, to do something I enjoy for myself. I try to do this in the morning, I find that I …

My Morning Runs

7.45 am – Time to wake up! Got up, had two big glasses of water and one pear. I always make sure I drink a good amount of water after I wake up, specially when I go for a run. I then got dressed and did all that fun stuff. Due to the fresh 5C outside, my outfit choice included two thermals and a wind proof jacket. I do regret not taking gloves but I try to avoid them at all cost… 8.00 am – I am out! I hate taking ages getting ready for a morning run. I like to wake up and just go outside and feel the fresh air otherwise it might be tempting to just stay home. As soon as got to the beach I stopped to admire its beauty. It was only me there. It was quiet and peaceful. I wish I could share with you the sound of the waves… For me morning runs are almost like a way of meditation. I really do believe that there is something special about feeling the morning fresh …
